A first-person, full-loot medieval sandbox MMORPG from Russian indie Atlant Games — zone-based open-world PvP, castle sieges and guild-run territory, built over seven years in the harsh EverQuest/Ultima Online mold. It left Early Access free-to-play in November 2025 with a full character wipe.

Worth a look, with caveats

Reign of Guilds in 2026 scores 57/100 on the overall lens — updates arrive at a steady drip, and reviews aggregate to 61/100. It's built around guilds — bring people or find them here. Budget for the grind — it's high.

Worth it if

  • Guilds chasing castle sieges and open-world territory
  • Old-school EverQuest/Ultima Online diehards

Skip it if

  • you want your time respected — grind is high
  • you can only spare a few casual hours a week
  • you mostly play solo
  • losing your gear in PvP would ruin your night

Pros & cons

  • Full-loot open-world PvP with zone-based risk tiers, castle sieges and guild-run territory
  • Deep old-school sandbox — 14 professions, a player-driven economy, estates and land claims
  • Free to try, with a safe starter island (~30–50h) before the harsh full-loot mainland
  • Very small population — the harsh sandbox can feel empty, and the devs admit they soft-pedal bans to keep players
  • Rough, seven-years-in-the-making Russian indie MMO — janky and unpolished (Mixed Steam reviews)
  • The free tier is heavily gated (one character, no guild creation, higher taxes); the real game sits behind a paid DLC tier

Best for

  • Full-loot sandbox PvPers who want risk-tiered zones
  • Guilds chasing castle sieges and open-world territory
  • Old-school EverQuest/Ultima Online diehards

Notes & links

On Steam in Early Access from April 4, 2024; exited to a 1.0 full launch on November 26, 2025 as free-to-play, with a complete character/progress wipe (players who had bought real-money items were re-granted them). The F2P model is tiered by access, not by power: free accounts are confined to the starter island of Rivulet, while paid DLC tiers unlock the mainland. PvP is zone-based: full loot in Black zones, partial loot with karma in Yellow zones, safe Green zones for newcomers. Live Steam metrics will replace the null placeholders on the next stats refresh.
