Not Britannia: Outlands is set on Avadon, a custom continent roughly half the size of the original map, deliberately compressed so players actually meet each other. The ruleset is a T2A-dominant Felucca hybrid — open-world PvP almost everywhere off the starter island, full loot on uninsured and unblessed items, and no stat-loss for murderers. Custom systems carry the endgame: Aspect Mastery across 17 aspects, Corrupted Shrines in place of champion spawns, Societies in place of bulk order deeds, 145+ tameable pets with levels and traits, mount breeding, and 200+ prebuilt house designs placed in the open world. There are no seasons and no wipes — the team has publicly committed to never resetting characters, which is also why an eight-year-old economy greets new arrivals. Leadership: Luthius is lead developer and Owyn lead administrator, heading a 23-person unpaid volunteer staff. Legal position: this is the weakest of MMOlist's community-server listings, and worth stating plainly. Electronic Arts still sells Ultima Online commercially through Broadsword, and its live terms of service explicitly prohibit creating or playing on server emulators. Outlands ships a complete 2.5GB self-contained client with no license check, and publishes no trademark disclaimer. No enforcement action against any UO free shard has ever been publicly documented, and no statement of tolerance exists either — free shards have simply run under that silence since the late 1990s. In April 2026 a court granted Blizzard a permanent injunction against the comparable Turtle WoW private server, which went permanently offline that May, so this is non-enforcement rather than established safety.
