The best mmorpgs with controller support in 2026
The bar for this list hasn't moved — native gamepad bindings and a UI that doesn't assume a mouse, not just "technically launches with Steam Input" — but the field keeps growing. New World rebuilt its controls outright for the Aeternum console relaunch, Albion Online shipped a controller UI overhaul alongside its April 2026 Xbox launch, and the 2025 remaster of the original Guild Wars gave a twenty-year-old classic native gamepad support and Steam Deck verification in one patch. Meanwhile World of Warcraft still isn't here: its gamepad bindings ship without a gamepad UI, and "install a third-party addon first" fails the bar.
Final Fantasy XIV remains the gold standard — its cross hotbar was designed for PlayStation, and raiding on a pad is normal there — with The Elder Scrolls Online's full gamepad mode (Steam Deck Verified as of mid-2026) as the other default answer. One wrinkle the ranking can't show: controller support and Steam Deck support are no longer the same question. Black Desert has the genre's best action combat on a pad, but its anti-cheat doesn't run on the Deck at all — the same wall blocks Destiny 2 and Once Human — while Warframe and Dune: Awakening are Deck Verified. If the Deck is the whole point, check the anti-cheat situation before you commit — and cross-check the console list if you'd rather skip the PC entirely.
