Next MMO updates & expansions
What's next for the games people already play — sourced dates for expansions, major patches, and fresh-start servers. Windows are labelled honestly ("~" is not a promise), delays stay on the record, and a game that's missing simply has no tracked announcement yet. Looking for new games instead? →
Expansions
EVE OnlineTheaters of War: second expansion
The second of three planned expansions in the Theaters of War saga, continuing the Military Campaigns arc that Cradle of War opened on June 9. CCP's 2026 roadmap commits to the year; as of September 11 no name or window has been announced and the official news feed carries only Cradle of War content.
The Lord of the Rings OnlineThe Wolves of Mordor expansion
Standing Stone Games' next expansion heads into eastern Mordor — three new regions, Sauron's past as the Lord of Wolves, a housing overhaul and a new survival-style progression system for the new zones. Announced at Gen Con on July 31; SSG's Q3 letter points at autumn with no date named.
EverQuest33rd Expansion (unannounced)
The July 2026 producer's letter teases the next expansion ('You'd be Mad to miss the next expansion') but names no title, date, or window. EverQuest expansions have shipped each December since 2001; the tracker will record a date when one exists.
Final Fantasy XIVEvercold (8.0 Expansion)
Revealed at the Anaheim Fan Festival in April 2026: the Fourth Reflection, Reborn and Evolved job styles, and a January 2027 target. The official Evercold site still lists January 2027 with no exact day.
Major updates
Lost ArkWarpweaver class + Base Camp
Q3 roadmap headliner: the Warpweaver class (Time Manager and Spatial Swordsman styles) plus Base Camp, a rebuilt onboarding express that walks new and returning players to item level 1700. Amazon has still not named a September day — its August 31 team update only moves the second server-merge phase to September 9. Amazon Game Studios hands Lost Ark's Western service to Smilegate in early 2027.
Throne and LibertyColossus Vegamor update
Per the Frozen Divide roadmap: a new Colossus encounter (Vegamor) that raises the equipment item-level cap and improves drop rates for gear that can reach it; Castle Siege and Tax Delivery improvements were bundled with it in the original August slot. Rescheduled to the end of September while Amazon prepares to hand Western live operations to NC in Q4 2026.
Guild Wars 2Visions of Eternity: Code of Creation
The last of the expansion's three 2026 updates and the story's finale: the Leyspring Hollows zone, the ten-player Nexus of Eternity raid, the Solitary Throne fractal, a new Convergence, the Wages of Stars legendary sword, and a new Wizard's Vault season. Challenge modes follow on September 29 and the legendary raid difficulty on October 13.
The Elder Scrolls OnlineSeason Two
The second season of ESO's seasonal model: Moon Hunter Keep and March of Sacrifices reworked as solo dungeons, Tamriel Tome challenges for more playstyles, and the Wolfhunter, Greymoor and Markarth DLCs folded into the base game. Update 51, carrying most of the season's systems, lands first on September 28 (PC/Mac); the Crimson Veldt trial and the next class-and-combat refresh moved to 2027 with Update 52.
The Elder Scrolls OnlineUpdate 52
Game Director Nick Giacomini's July 30 letter moved Update 52 into January 2027 under a 'quality over calendar dates' philosophy; the Crimson Veldt trial (mounted combat) and the next class-and-combat refresh move into 2027 with it.
World of Warcraft: ForeverFirst content update
Blizzard's stated post-launch cadence: a first content update in March 2027, then updates roughly every four months, with larger free expansions planned annually — no exact date yet.
Fresh-start servers
New progression servers, seasonal wipes, and time-locked rulesets — the genre's biggest "come back" trigger, tracked with the same sourcing rules as launches.
No announced fresh servers right now — quiet is the honest state, not a gap.

Albion OnlineDragonfire update
Dragons came to Albion on August 31, 2026: the floating Ancient Lands region, Ashborn enemies, Fire Drake mounts, and the 20-player Dragon Sanctuary raid against Azaryon — billed as the toughest PvE fight in the game's history. Shipped simultaneously on PC, console, and mobile.
EverQuestLethar (Time-Locked Expansion server)
The year's second time-locked server opens at 12:00 p.m. PT with the new Personal Loot ruleset, starting from all expansions up to and including The Serpent's Spine. Buried Sea unlocks 12 weeks later, then further expansions every eight weeks. A fresh economy and a level playing field for returning players.
World of WarcraftPatch 12.1: The Curse of Ula'tek
Midnight's first major patch: the Coiled Isle zone, the Altar of Fangs dungeon, new Delves and Lairs, campaign chapters, and housing improvements. Season 2 — the Venomous Abyss raid, a new Mythic+ rotation, and the new PvP season — follows on August 18.
Throne and LibertyThe Frozen Divide: Nix
The frozen-region expansion: the Stillreach zone, a new class, gear updates, and system changes, with a content roadmap running through the summer (Archboss Ramux arrived July 30).
